NEW Clove Trays

New Clove Trays are designed to work seamlessly with our Superlite Easel and Tray Caddies to keep your oil paints fresher longer. Clove oil is known to slow the drying time of oil paint, and when used in a sealed container its vapors can slow the "skinning" of most* oil pigments extending the paints life between your painting sessions.

Our Clove Trays are plastic and contain 2 cotton oil reservoirs for holding clove oil. Trays are both simple and functional. Each tray features:
  • Two cotton reservoirs for holding clove oil and distributing vapor across pigments evenly. Cotton can be saturated with clove oil without risk of contaminating your pigment.
  • Clove Trays have 6 pigment divisions with a small gap at the top of the tray to allow vapors permeate the container while sealed.
  • Designed to fit in our Superlite Easel and/or Tray Caddy the Clove Trays fully capitalize on our silicone lid ensuring a tight effective seal.

Clove Oil:
Although our Clove Trays can be used with other Clove oils, we are offering our own Clove Oil which we've added a slight tint to make it easy to see how saturated your cotton reservoirs are. Don’t worry — it’s subtle and won’t affect your pigments! Each bottle comes in a 10ml glass container with an eyedropper lid for precise application.

Give them a try and see the difference for yourself!

*Because of the variety of pigments available its impossible to guarantee a specific "freshness window" for your oil paints, but we know from using it ourselves that earth pigments tend to skin the fastest and if a "fast drying**" pigment is used with our trays it can actually reduce the effectiveness of the clove oil to the other pigments.

**I like to use fast drying titanium white while painting plein-air, this is the one tube of paint I bring with me in the field and distribute to my glass palette while I reserve the clove tray for my colors. Because the clove oil is not physically mixed with your pigments your painting will dry at a normal rate.
